Sanrai Med India provides Oxygen-as-a-Service (O2aaS) to 19 community health centres (CHCs) in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh.

The program’s equipment package includes 5L and 10LPM Drive DeVilbiss concentrators, pulse oximeters, consumables, and voltage guards to ensure reliable oxygen delivery. Alongside the equipment, Sanrai provides wrap-around services such as onsite installation, clinical and technical training, preventive maintenance, and 24/7 responsive support. The Community Health Centres they serve also receive backup equipment to minimise downtime. The service is designed to improve patient outcomes, reduce reliance on oxygen cylinders, and reduce the cost of oxygen supply. Sanrai aims to transition their programme with government support to sustain their services at scale.

Since March 2023, Sanrai’s O2aaS program in Raebareli has achieved a mean equipment downtime of 0.33 hours per equipment month, far outperforming market norms. With only four reported equipment issues in 18 months, repairs were completed within 2–3 days, supported by backup systems at all CHCs. The program reduced dependency on oxygen cylinders, offering a cost-effective solution compared to commercial alternatives. Regular maintenance and zero-cost repairs have further enhanced reliability. Improved staff training has increased knowledge retention, ensuring accurate diagnoses and timely oxygen administration, directly benefiting patient health outcomes.

Scale and Impact

Between March 2023 and September 2024, Sanrai’s O2aaS program served 2,035 patients across 19 Community Health Centres in India. Over 291 healthcare workers were clinically trained, leading to improved knowledge retention and better device utilisation. The availability of pulse oximeters has supported accurate diagnoses and critical decisions, increasing the number of patients treated at CHCs. For example, at Jagatpur Community Health Centre, oxygen administration cases rose from 100 (April–December 2022) to 210 (March 2023–April 2024). This shift has strengthened confidence in Community Health Centre-level care, improving health outcomes and reducing the burden on higher-level healthcare facilities.
